 About our Japanese Language class

Would you like to study Japanese so that you can enjoy life in Japan?
In our Japanese language classes, volunteers support the study of Japanese.
In addition to learning Japanese, we also offer Japanese speaking sessions, speech presentations, and useful information for daily life.


 Information on our Japanese class

1) Learning Japanese Language
We provide study support according to the needs of those who want to study Japanese.
In addition to one-on-one learning, people of the same level are learning in groups (2 to 3 people).


2) Place (where)
International Exchange Class, Seagull Center 2F , Yokohama City University (10 minutes’ walk from Kanazawa Hakkei Station.)

         

3) Time (when)
Sunday / Tuesday / Thursday / Saturday 10: 00 - 11: 30
There are four classrooms each week (Week 1 to 4.)
They will be closed in August.

4) Teaching materials (what)
Use teaching materials that match the needs of those who want to study and their Japanese level.
"Ippo(Step 1) Nihongo(Step 2-Japanese) Sampo(Step 3)", "Minna no Nihongo(Everybody’s Japanese", "Japanese only this!", etc.
We ask you to purchase the teaching materials.

5) Membership fee (how much)
1000 yen / month for 4 days. 500 yen / month for 4 days (for high school students)

6) Application
If you would like to study, please apply at the lounge reception desk.

 Event of the Japanese Classroom

1)Let’s speak in Japanese
You are divided into groups, decide on a theme and tattle in Japanese. (Once a month)

2)Japanese presentation)
You will present your favorite theme to everyone in the classroom in Japanese.
(March/ every year)

3)Study sessions on information useful for daily life
You will learn information useful in your daily life from experts in the ward office

・Method of garbage separation (How to sort garbage)
・Disaster and safety (How to protect yourself and how to escape in the event
of an earthquake or typhoon)
・How to call a fire truck or an ambulance (How to call 119) ETC.


 Japanese Teacher Volunteers

1)Recruitment of Japanese teacher volunteers
Why don’t you teach Japanese to foreigners? The Lounge is recruiting Japanese teacher volunteers.

Would you please contact the Lounge if you want to be a volunteer.
Qualification conditions for volunteers are as follows:

You are required to study a course or courses more than 20 hours at the Japanese
teacher training course.

2)Volunteer training for Japanese teachers
Every year, brush-up workshops are held. External lecturers are invited to provide support guidance of Japanese learning, to teach the recent surrounding trends of teaching materials and activities and to plan for improving knowledge and skill of volunteers.

・「How to support Japanese learning beginners」
